Cookies & Tracking Technologies Policy
Effective Date: To be determined
Entity:Microvest NG (“MiClique”)
This Policy explains how MiClique uses cookies, local storage, SDKs, pixels, tags, device identifiers, and similar technologies (collectively, “Cookies & Tracking Technologies”) on our mobile apps, websites, and services (the “Platform”). It works alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. By continuing to use the Platform, you acknowledge the practices described here, subject to any consent controls available to you.
1. What These Technologies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your browser or device by websites and apps.
Local storage technologies (such as HTML5 storage) and mobile SDKs perform similar functions in apps.
Pixels, tags, and beacons are code snippets or small image files that allow us and our partners to recognize your browser or device, measure interactions, and provide features such as login persistence, security, analytics, and advertising.
2. Categories of Cookies & Tracking Technologies We Use
Strictly Necessary
Required for the Platform to function (e.g., authentication, load balancing, fraud prevention, security). Disabling them may break core features.
Functional & Preference
Remember choices such as language, region, accessibility options, media settings, and saved sessions to improve your experience.
Performance & Analytics
Help us understand how the Platform is used—what works, what crashes, and where we can improve. We use aggregated metrics, event logs, and diagnostics to enhance reliability and performance.
Personalization & Recommendations
Tailor feeds, suggested follows, topics, and content ranking based on your interactions. You can adjust certain personalization controls in-app.
Advertising & Measurement
Enable showing ads, capping frequency, combatting invalid traffic, and measuring ad effectiveness. Partners may set or read their own identifiers subject to their policies and your settings.
3. Information Collected Through These Technologies
We and our partners may collect:
- Device identifiers and browser type
- App version and OS version
- Language and time zone
- IP address and coarse location
- Session and referrer information
- Interaction signals (views, clicks, likes, reposts, replies, shares)
- Crash diagnostics and features used
When combined with your account, we treat this as personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Why We Use These Technologies
- To operate the Platform (authentication, load balancing, security, prevention of spam and abuse)
- To remember your settings and preferences
- To provide and improve accessibility and media playback
- To analyze performance, reliability, and engagement
- To personalize feeds and recommendations
- To deliver and measure ads and sponsored content
- To research and develop new features
5. Third Parties and Partners
We work with analytics, measurement, anti-fraud, and advertising partners who may set or read their own cookies or SDK identifiers on our Platform and across other sites and apps. These partners use the information for services they provide to us and for their own purposes consistent with their policies and your choices.
We require contractual safeguards and encourage you to review partner notices where available.
6. Your Choices and Controls
Consent & Preference Centers
Where required by law, we present consent prompts or settings that allow you to accept, reject, or fine-tune non-essential cookies. You may revisit your choices at any time via in-app settings or the footer link on the website.
Browser Controls
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, including through automatic signals. Disabling certain cookies may affect functionality. For instructions, consult your browser's help documentation.
Mobile Settings & Advertising IDs
On mobile devices, you can reset or limit ad identifiers and control app tracking permissions in your device settings. Resetting an identifier may not stop data collection but can reduce targeted advertising.
Do Not Track (DNT) & Global Privacy Control (GPC)
Where our systems detect recognized signals such as GPC, we will attempt to honor them as applicable to our services and jurisdictional requirements.
Personalization Controls
You can adjust recommendation and ad personalization settings in-app. Opting out of personalized ads does not stop ads; it makes them less relevant.
7. Data Retention
Cookie lifetimes vary. Session cookies expire when you close your browser or app. Persistent cookies or SDK identifiers may remain for months or until you delete them, depending on purpose. We retain associated data only as long as necessary for the purposes described, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
8. Security and Fraud Prevention
We use tracking technologies to detect bots, credential-stuffing, and abusive patterns; to enforce rate limits; and to protect accounts. Where suspicious activity is detected, we may require additional verification, restrict features, or terminate sessions.
9. International Transfers
Because MiClique operates globally, information collected via these technologies may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We implement appropriate safeguards where required by law to protect data during such transfers.
10. Children and Teens
We apply heightened protections to accounts we reasonably believe belong to minors, including stricter defaults for personalization and advertising. We do not knowingly permit interest-based advertising directed to children where prohibited by law.
11. Jurisdiction-Specific Disclosures
Nigeria
Processing of identifiers and analytics is conducted in accordance with this Policy and applicable Nigerian law. We provide channels for consent and withdrawal where required.
EU/UK
Where required, non-essential cookies are placed only after consent. You can withdraw consent at any time using in-product controls. We rely on legitimate interests for security and strictly necessary functions.
US State Privacy Laws
Depending on your state, you may have rights to opt out of cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising. We provide controls where applicable.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in technology, law, or our practices. When we do, we will update the effective date and, where changes are material, provide notice through the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
