Privacy Policy

Effective Date: To be determined

Data Controller:Microvest NG (“MiClique,” “we,” “us,” or “our”)

Scope:This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you access or use the MiClique mobile apps, websites, APIs, widgets, notifications, and related online services (together, the “Platform”). By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

1. What MiClique Is

MiClique is a microblogging and social media service that enables short posts; photos and video sharing; comments and reactions; following and discovery; search and recommendation; and, where available, private messaging. MiClique is not a financial service and does not offer banking, payments, or investment products.

Because a social service is dynamic, features may change; if a change materially affects how we use your information, we will provide reasonable notice.

2. How This Policy Works with Our Terms

This Policy works alongside our Terms of Use and other product policies. Terms define your rights and obligations as a user; this Policy explains what data we handle, why, and how. If a feature has additional notices, those are incorporated by reference.

3. The Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide

a. Account & Profile: Display name, @username/handle, password, email or phone, date of birth, and optional profile details (bio, photo, links). Some profile fields are public to enable community discovery.

b. Content & Communications: Posts, comments, reactions, hashtags, captions, photos, videos, audio snippets, live content (if offered), and direct messages (DMs) or group messages. We process related data (timestamps, participants, delivery/read status) to operate messaging and safety features.

c. Contacts & Social Graph (optional): If you choose to sync your address book, we process contact names, emails, and numbers to help you find people and improve suggestions.

d. Identity & Verification (feature-dependent): If you apply for verification or certain creator/business tools, we may collect proofs of identity or eligibility (e.g., ID images, business certificates) and run fraud/abuse checks.

e. Promotions & Surveys (optional): Information you provide when entering contests, participating in research, or completing feedback forms.

f. Payments (only for paid utilities): Limited billing details necessary to process transactions; most payment data is handled by our payments provider(s) acting on our instructions.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage & Log Data: Device and session identifiers, IP address, app and OS versions, language, time zone, crash diagnostics, and interaction signals (views, clicks, likes, reposts, replies, shares, follows/unfollows, bookmarks, and time spent).

Device & Network Signals: Hardware model, device settings, advertising identifiers, mobile network info, and approximate location inferred from IP or device signals.

Cookies and Similar Technologies: Cookies, pixels, local storage, SDKs, and device identifiers that remember you, secure your session, measure performance, tailor content/ads, and reduce spam/abuse. You can manage cookies in your browser or device settings; disabling some cookies may degrade features.

Media Processing Outputs: When you upload media, we may create technical derivatives (thumbnails, transcoded formats, captions or transcripts, and safety labels). Automated outputs can contain errors; you may have controls to edit or remove them.

3.3 Information from Others

We may receive information about you from other users (e.g., mentions, tags, reports), from services you connect (e.g., sign-in), from ad/measurement partners (aggregate campaign performance), and from service providers who help us keep the Platform secure and reliable.

4. How We Use Information (Purposes & Legal Bases)

We process personal information for the following purposes (and, where applicable, under lawful bases such as contract, legitimate interests, consent, and legal obligations):

Provide the Platform

Authenticate you; deliver feeds; host and distribute posts and media; enable interactions (comments, reactions, reposts); operate search, hashtags, and discovery; provide notifications; and remember your preferences.

Personalize & Recommend

Rank posts and suggestions; tailor content, topics, and accounts to follow; and adapt the experience to your device and network. You can adjust certain personalization controls.

Safety, Integrity & Enforcement

Detect and prevent spam, malware, fraud, impersonation, coordinated manipulation, copyright/trademark abuse, and other violations; protect minors; preserve platform integrity; and enforce our rules. This includes automated detection and human review.

Messaging

Deliver, route, and secure DMs and group chats; prevent abuse; and provide features like read receipts and spam filtering.

Advertising & Measurement

Show ads and sponsored posts; manage frequency; measure reach and effectiveness; and provide aggregated reports to advertisers and creators. We do not sell information that directly identifies you to advertisers.

Research & Development

Improve reliability, performance, accessibility, and safety; test new features; analyze trends; and train models that help ranking and abuse detection.

Communications

Send service messages (security alerts, changes to terms/policies), product updates, and — where permitted — marketing communications.

Compliance & Protection

Comply with legal obligations; respond to valid requests; protect our users, our rights, our property, and the public; and prevent, detect, and investigate security incidents.

5. How Information Is Shared

5.1 Content Visibility

MiClique is designed for public conversation. Depending on your settings, your posts, profile, and public interactions may be visible to anyone on or off MiClique (including via search engines, embeds, or screenshots). DMs are intended to be private between participants, but recipients can always copy or re-share content. You are strongly advised to post responsibly.

5.2 Service Providers

We engage hosting, analytics, security, customer support, content moderation, and payments vendors. They may access information to perform services under strict contractual and confidentiality obligations and are prohibited from using the data for their own purposes.

5.3 Partners & Integrations

If you use features that connect to other services (for example, cross-posting or embedded players), we share the minimal information needed to run those features, as instructed by you. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies.

5.4 Advertising & Measurement Partners

We provide aggregate and de-identified campaign reporting and may allow partners to set or read their own cookies/pixels for measurement and fraud prevention. We do not share information that directly identifies you (such as your name or email) with advertisers unless you ask us to (for example, to redeem an offer).

5.5 Legal, Safety, and Protection

We may access, preserve, and disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to: comply with law or legal process; enforce our terms and policies; protect the safety, rights, or property of users, the public, or MiClique; or detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues.

5.6 Corporate Transactions

If we undergo a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to this Policy.

6. Cookies, Local Storage, and Device Identifiers

We use first-party and third-party technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure sessions, personalize content/ads, and measure performance. You can manage cookies via your browser/device; you may also see Platform controls for ad personalization. Some features rely on these technologies and may not function properly if disabled.

7. Automated Decision-Making & Moderation

We use automated systems to rank feeds, surface relevant content, and detect policy violations (e.g., spam, manipulation, unsafe media, or child safety risks). Automated decisions can affect content distribution, account limits, or eligibility for certain features. We build review and appeal processes where feasible and lawful, and we continuously evaluate systems to improve fairness and accuracy.

8. International Data Transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than yours. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or comparable mechanisms) and assess partners' security practices. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions with different data-protection standards than your own.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Platform, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect the safety and integrity of the service, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose. For example, security logs may be kept longer than routine analytics data; deleted posts are removed from public view promptly but may persist for a limited time in backups.

10. Security

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These measures include access controls, encryption in transit, segmentation, rate-limiting, monitoring, and employee confidentiality obligations. No system is perfectly secure; we continually improve protections and encourage you to use strong passwords and multi-factor authentication.

11. Your Choices and Rights

11.1 Controls in the Product

Profile & Audience: Update your profile; set audience controls if available; manage who can comment or message you.

Personalization: Adjust recommendations and ad preferences where controls exist.

Notifications: Manage push, email, and SMS settings (service/transactional notices may be required).

Data Download & Deletion: Request a copy of your data and seek deletion or deactivation of your account, subject to lawful exceptions.

11.2 Legal Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, port, or restrict processing of your personal information; to object to certain processing (including direct marketing); and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. We will honor requests as required by applicable law and may take steps to verify your identity and authority.

11.3 Children & Teens

MiClique is not intended for children under the minimum age required by local law for social media use (13+ in many places). Where we learn an ineligible user has created an account, we will take reasonable steps to remove the account and related data. Parents/guardians can contact us regarding minor users' rights.

12. Advertising, Analytics, and Measurement Further Details

We show ads to keep MiClique available and improve the experience. Ad delivery may use in-app activity, approximate location, and device or advertising IDs to tailor relevance and limit frequency. We also use aggregated reporting to inform advertisers and creators how campaigns performed (impressions, engagement, conversions). You can influence ad personalization with available controls; opting out of personalized ads does not stop ads but makes them less relevant.

13. Third-Party Content, Links, and Social Plugins

Content hosted or linked by others is their responsibility. When you interact with third-party content (embeds, plugins, or links), that third party may collect information under its own policies. MiClique is not responsible for third-party practices; please review their notices.

14. Nigeria-Specific Statement

For Nigerian users, we process personal information in line with this Policy and applicable Nigerian laws and guidance. Where consent is required (for instance, for certain marketing or precise location uses), we will obtain it and provide an easy way to withdraw. You may also lodge a complaint with the appropriate supervisory body if you believe we have mishandled your data.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect new features, changes in the law, or improvements to our practices. We will update the Effective Date and, where changes are material, provide reasonable notice through the Platform or by other appropriate means. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
